Senior Architect

Lesley was born in Brighton and is married to a Geordie Acoustic Consultant. They now live in Cheshire after living for 30 years in Cricklewood.

Lesley studied Architecture at Bristol University and North London Polytechnic. She became RIBA qualified in 1986.

Lesley joined bpArchitecture in June 2016

Experience

Lesley has extensive experience in Education, Healthcare, Retail, Leisure and Residential sectors together with experience working with Listed Buildings and Forensic Architecture relating to litigation and arbitration. She has also assisted with the production of a book on Fire Safety in Construction.

Lesley is an accredited Principal Designer and also holds CCS and Workign at height certificates

History

Lesley worked her Year Out at Bickerdike Allen Partners who specialise in Forensic Architecture, Healthcare and Acoustics giving her a good practical basis in drawing reviews, surveys and assisting in preparation of reports and Scott Schedules.

After spending a short time in Hong Kong working on the acoustics of the Royal Academy of Performing Arts she did her professional practice with Hugh Sprince & Partners working on sheltered housing and a new build Primary School gaining a broad experience assisting two Architects.

On Qualifying Lesley moved to John Cox Architects London followed by a group practice, John Living and Morrison Rose, where she was made an Associate in charge of housing schemes and Sainsbury’s Supermarkets.

She became an Associate at Lambiel Associates where she developed expertise on Fast Food restaurants throughout the Midlands and Trusthouse Forte motorway service areas being seconded back to Bickerdike Allen Partners to work on hospitals and healthcare projects in Northern Ireland and across the country as workload fluctuated.

Lesley became an Associate in 1997 for Sturgis & Company working on high end residential schemes and commercial projects.

In 2001 she jointed Avanti to work on hospitals mostly under the PFI regime and then became an Associate with EWA in 2002 where she was Design Manager overlooking the design and construction of over 50 newbuild and extended schools and 3 cinemas in the London office working closely alongside colleagues in Warrington.

Whilst working for Engle Architects Lesley worked solely on the £90M Eagles Meadow shopping centre complex with flats, multiplex cinema and bowling alley, she also bought a flat in Wrexham to spend more time on site. On completion of the project she briefly moved in 2009 to Curl La Tourelle Architects on education projects before moving to JCMT Architects to work on the construction information of a mixed residential development with 217 mixed tenure apartments and commercial units.

Lesley then re-joined Curl La Tourelle + Head working on education projects in and around London from feasibility through to completion.

Interests

Lesley is actively involved in environment and planning issues.

She is making the most of having moved to Cheshire, re-engaging with gardening and looking forward to more walking.

Lesley enjoys swimming and has joined Tangent which is associated with the Round Table.

She may also find an outlet for Saxophone playing.
