New 3FE Primary School

11 Feb 2015 By - BSP

In February 2015 bpArchitecture submitted a Planning application for a new 630 pupil 3FE Primary School, with 26 Place Nursery located in the centre of Oldham.  The school was designed to comply with EFA standards but did based on a modified EFA plan form.  As the site is set on a steeply sloping site we were required to design to suit a difficult 12m sloping site, taking into account a city centre location, orientation, levels, access, noise, as well as provision of internal and external Sports facilities.

We came up with a 3 storey classroom block and 2 storey admin block all utilising offsite construction modules, this is set around a double storey multi purpose hall, dining area and services block.  Seperate KS1 and KS2 playgrounds are provided as well as an external stepped auditoreum overlooking the external sports spaces.

Planning Approval was granted on 15 April 2015 when the scheme was unannimously approved at committee.

Our Design and build colleagues at Extraspace Solutions are currently putting together detailed costs and proposals. Start on site will commence on site circa May 2015.

Castle Camping

19 Nov 2014 By - BSP

November 2014.

In December last year, having received a Planning refusal for a new Camping and Caravan site in Mow Cop, a new Client approached us to act on their behalf.

We visited the site to look at the proposals, snd followed this up with a discussion about the  scheme with the Planning Officer, and suggested solutions. We came up with two alternative schemes and took one forward for Planning Approval.

The proposal was to provide a new Shower and WC block as well as Ancillary accomodation for a newly registered Camping and Caravan club site, .set on a hillside close to Mow Cop Castle and overlooking the market town of Biddulph. This picturesque site is the perfect camping and caravan location, but for the business to be successful additional facilities were needed.

We carefully designed the new facilities to nestle into the hillside, partially concealed by the existing accomodation on the site and more in keeping with the rural location; and acheived a successful approval for our Client.

Works have now commnced on site.

Boundary Disputes

15 Oct 2014 By - BSP

Over the last few months we have been experiencing a mele of Planning issues that surround projects with difficult Planning and boundary issues.

We have been working for one of our Clients to provide a small residential development in a rural location.  This should have been a simple approval process. However, because of numerous attempts by a previous developer to get additional residentail development approved on the site and adjacent land.  A lengthy trawl through planning records was necessary to prove the extent of the residential curtilage,  as well as use of the site as a residential dwelling over the last ten years.

We are happy to say that we achieved a successul result for our Cleint.
