Project Workload for Information

Please note that workload is dealt with in the order that it was appointed.
As our projects also involve working with Local Authorities, Building Control, Other Consultants, Manufacturers, Suppliers, Clients, Builders, Contractors there is a lot of toing and froing and downtime on a project, whilst waiting for responses. - - - - - - -,
- Where planners consult us on live applications, they will usually set a short often 7 day deadline for responses to consultations to be provided. They will then request a 30 day period for them to respond, but this is often exceeded. We need to deal with planning responses, slotting these in between existing workload, as and when they arise.
- Where projects are on site we will need to slot in Site Inspections into our workload to suit the progress of works on site
- Where projects are on site we will need to respond to site queries, materials, manufacturing, package tender or supply issues to suit site progress, slotting these into our workload.
- We will need to respond to Manufacturers queries/comments / Tender procedures to suit project pre construction progress and slot these into our workload
- We will need to respond to Building Control queries/comments to suit pre construction sign off and site progress and slot these into our workload
- Where we are CA or PM on any project on site, we need to slot CA and PM management into our workload to suit progress of work on site
- CPD - As Architects we are and have always been required to carry out 37 hours CPD to ensure we are up to date on a range of topics, we have previosuly only had to record hours for CPD internally - for 35 years. .
Since 2024 we now need to record this formally on ARB and RIBA database confirming how each activity has benefitted our continuing proffessional development. This is now a regulatory requirement to prove competance.
- Principal Designers Registration process
Following introduction of the Building Safety Act There are now changes to the Principal Designers role and regulation processes:-

we are now required to formally take a competance test
- The RIBA register of Principal Designers has been set up, we have until end of 2025 to register [+ every 5 yrs].
- The initial process for this has required a 6 wk Fire Safety course, and

and 6 wk Principal Designers course to run through all of the changes to the requirements for PD services and the Building Control applicaiton process.
- This also included information requirment and operational changes. This is now far more onerous..

This has also included training for applications which now need to be sbitted to the Building Safety Regultor for HRB's, and those affected by HRB's.
- Registration also involves preparing a CV and Case Studies showing past experince to prove competance.

We are now living in a completely different 'world' [post Grenfell]. [despite having carried out the PD role for 35+ years]
Building Control Officers went through a similar process in 2023-2024.
Beware Contractors and Builders are next in the registration and proving competance process.
